Advances in Rhinoplasty (AAFPRS Society)
May 14, 2015 - May 17, 2015
For decades this course, the longest running rhinoplasty course in the world, has provided expert teaching from the world’s most acclaimed rhinoplasty surgeons. For 2015, we have built upon the successes of our past meetings. As you can see from the faculty roster, we have compiled an all-star list of speakers from a variety of backgrounds spanning the globe. Chosen for their teaching ability as well as their rhinoplasty knowledge, our faculty has been charged with the goal of providing maximal education to our participants. The course directors put much thought into organizing this course to optimize learning. To that end, we have organized the program a little differently than in past meetings. Rather than grouping content into sessions based solely on the various anatomical regions of the nose, we structured the program in a progressive manner which we feel will lead to the most effective absorption and retention of information.
Day 1 starts with essential concepts and essential techniques, providing students with a foundation and a set of tools to get started. On Day 2, we explore common primary deformities or rhinoplasty problems, the issues which motivate patients to seek surgery. These problems are addressed using the concepts and techniques established from Day 1. On Day 3, we advance to difficult rhinoplasty problems, complications, and revision surgery, again, building from the previous days’ teachings. On Day 4, we conclude with nuances, controversies, alternatives, and out-of-the-box topics. We believe this graduated format will make the process of learning about this complicated operation flow naturally. Students will build a foundation and expand upon it through the 4 days. We are confident that for every phase of the program, students of all levels from beginner to expert, will find the information illuminating and provocative. Throughout the 4 days, a variety of teaching formats will be woven into the program. The course will include quality controlled digital presentations, expert panels, debates, and special lectures by featured faculty.
Each day, there will be a “video blast” section in which numerous high quality, tightly edited videos will be featured together. These sessions will provide densely packed teaching in an efficient and information-rich format. Breakfast symposia covering reputation management, practice management, and non-surgical adjuncts to rhinoplasty will also be offered. On the last day, our flagship hands-on cadaver laboratory course gives participants the opportunity to learn directly from our faculty. With a faculty to student ratio of approximately 1 to 2, there is no better way to hone your practical skills under the guidance of master surgeons. On this same day, we will also feature a simulcast live surgery performed by Dr. Dean Toriumi, one of the world’s foremost rhinoplasty surgeons. Above all else, Advances in Rhinoplasty 2015 emphasizes teaching and education. We are confident that should you attend, you will be rewarded with the best rhinoplasty education you have ever experienced in a meeting. We look forward to seeing you in Chicago.
